IMHO, that is one of the best songs Bruce has ever done.

Hi Adam...
You have a great time. Bruce is one I hope to see someday in person. Love his work.

His guitars aren't always the pretty sounding ones (and that is deliberate), but he plays 'em well!

I had tickets to his show in CO this year and couldn't go. I saw him during the "You've Never Seen Everything" tour and he was great. I can't wait to see him (hopefully) again.

Worry less about the guitars you want. Play the guitar you have more.
The answer will come, and it will not be what you expect.

A guitar is a tool, and a friend. But it is not the answer.

It is the beginning.

Hey Larry,
Hope you do too... although i remember you saying one time that you will walk out on a show where the performer gets political, and Bruce certainly does - not to the extent of Neil Young or anyhting, but he certainly expresses his opinion.

Curious as to what you mean by "not the prettiest sounding guitars"? I always thought those Manzers and his Guild 12 were very pretty... Unless you mean the dobro or when he uses the heavy tremelo effect? 'Splain?

re Pacing the Cage.... yup, simple, beautiful and heart rending all at once... there have been times in my life where i couldn't listen to that song. Glad to hear others know it/play it. Hope he plays it Friday. Live On My Mind is another, its kinda my wife and my "song", if ya dig...

But, love his older instrumentals too, hope he treats us to some!

Great song. I play it too. Found a tab very close to his original. I changed a couple of words to suit me. Was playing it today.

I want to learn "Wondering Where the Lions Are" too.

Steve Bell just released this year an entire CD of Bruce's songs. Great stuff.

Hi Adam...
He definitely gets more than usual tone out of his guitars when he records, and yes some of his dobros or resonators (whichever they are) are pretty interesting...we are always talking about our guitars sounding ''natural'' when we record, and Bruce gets some really different sounds out of his guitars when they are recorded.

It's like he's got a menu of textures he draws from. I don't know how much is studio and how much is just guitar control...but he does it well.

Everything from refined to downright funky. I know part of is it styling, and at times it sounds like he deliberately used old strings - I mean aged strings.

Songs like ''The End of All Rivers'' is quite full, with nice sustain, and perfectly timed ''echo'' passages. Contrast it with the tone at the beginning of songs like ''Gavin's Woodpile...'' mutey and near total lack of overtones. And the tiny little pinched sound on ''Little Seahorse.''

Then the slightly gnarly and biting 12 string on ''Northern Lights'' and ''Wondering Where The Lions Are''. That's all I meant...

Saw Bruce in Kansas City this past August in a tiny club. Great show. You're in for a treat!

Great thanks in advance. I'm hoping to see him too, this Saturday in Houston.

I will add that you are in for a real treat .... He does most of the new CD and my wife and I were blown away by it!! During the new song "Beautiful Creatures" he took his voice to the "amazing" upper limit and his guitar work was superb !!! You could hear a pin drop!!

Yup, can't wait.... its been too long, almost 3 years since the last time. I have always found myself wishing he would do a little less new material, given so much as he has to draw from, but I understand he has to promote the new CD as well...

the solo acoustic tour about 5 years ago was nice....

I understand what you mean. We have seen him a lot of times and love the old stuff. But my wife and I were so taken by his performance of the CD that we went right out into the lobby afterward and bought it!!!!

His live guitar sound (other than Richard Thompson) is the best the I have heard!!

You will hear some Bruce classics for sure .... so don't worry ... But go in openminded and you will be pleased!!
