Default Played a NOS 2002 514ce today

A buddy of mine just got one from his wife as a gift. He brought it over to let me see it. Now, keep in mind, the thing has been hanging on a wall for a while. It wasn't dried out or anything. Played great, sounded awesome. I think it sounds as good or better than my 2002 814CE LTD sitka/cocobolo. Was a bit warmer in tone due to the cedar top, methinks. This doesn't mean my 814 is not good; it is great. I think it means I like cedar better, which is great, since I just ordered my Kronbauer with a cedar top!
One note: the store originally bought the guitar (and several other new Taylors) from another dealer in financial trouble. This store says that Taylor will honor the warranty (they are not an authorized Taylor dealer). Watcha think about that?

I have a 2002 514ce. I absolutely love it to death. If Taylor will still honor the original new warranty then that's a heckuva deal. The wood has had 4 years to age and if it's been played at all at the store, it no doubt has opened up a bit. A great bargain and a great guitar.

Congrats! I think the 514 is a heckuva guitar and it sounds like you find a good deal.

You can call Taylor with the serial number and ask them if it's still registered to the original dealer and if the warranty coverage will be intact if you buy it. I did this when I bought my NOS 2003 814CE this year. They pulled it up and their database and informed me that it would be warrantied as new.
