Default Best Guitar for Classic Rock?

Hey guys, need some advice. I mostly play classic rock (and some country) and I am thinking about getting another guitar that would compliment my Martin HD-28. Any thoughts or suggestions? Maybe a mahog slope-shoulder dread?

I would definitely go for a hog of some sort. My favorite hog these days is my Collings D1. Fantastic guitar - sounds great on stage.

whoa, you're talking acoustic. you say "classic rock" and my first thought is les paul, strat, tele, ...the wholey trinity.

what's wrong with your HD28? it would be hard to beat that.

What do you want that the HD-28 cannot provide?

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the HD-28, its an amazing guitar. Just considering getting something that might compliment it (not replace it).

Oh God, I cant believe I'm even going to suggest this...

A Gibson J-45.

whew...my head didn't explode and no one can ever again accuse me of being a Gibson basher.

Should be easy to find one to accomplish that goal.

I have considered a J-45 and may get one if I can find a good used one. IMO new Gibsons are way over-priced, not alot of guitar for your money.

Its sad but true. I think the only guitar that Gibson makes now that is a decent value is their Advanced Jumbo but that's not exactly what I'm looking for.

Did you have a particular model in mind? Last year I played a Guild (maybe a D-55?) and it really didn't do it for me.

And their ill-behaved brother, the SG.

Guild F-50R. It's a classic jumbo.
Loud and balanced.
Bryan Adams, Bonnie Raitt and John Denver have used it.

I think Guild makes a fine jumbo. 12-strings too, of course. Their dreads are not my cup of tea, but I know others who love them.
