Default Fried Foods

I just had a lunch: fried fish sandwich dripping with grease, and french fries. It's the 1st time I had fried foods in about a month. I feel sick and feel like never eating again.

We as Americans MUST stop eating this crap. I was sitting across from an old friend the other night. He's a very large mammal. He ordered a large pepporoni pizza, basket of onion rings and fries. I mean, how do you all eat like this? Doesn't it make you wanna hurl?

Instead of a sweet tooth I have a"fat" tooth and I like the fried and greasy stuff. However, I no loner indulge my fat tooth and strive very hard to eat healthy. I have not lost my taste for such foods but I do agree eating that stuff now does make me feel like crap so it is getting easier and easier to avoid. I have not had french fries in years.

I like the occaissional greasy meal, especially if I drank too much the night before. Normally, I can stay away from it pretty easily, except for chips and salsa. That stuff is like crack for me.

I haven't eaten anything fried, deep fried or high fat for about 17 years now....never felt better, it's been much easier to keep the weight off, and my cardio vascular health is better at nearly 48 than it was at 26 (based on my ability to exercise intensely!)

It's the first "food group" you should exclude from your diet....

If a person can learn to like coffee and/or beer, learning to like fried foods shouldn't be too difficult.

The main problem these days, IMO, is that it's very difficult to find actually GOOD fried food. Good chicken fried steak or onion rings are almost impossible to find . . probably because people insist on trying to make them with the non-real stuff.

Fried foods are one of the four major food groups (starch, sugar and red meat being the other three).

I eat fried foods once a week or so. Of course, since I have a lap band I can't eat very MUCH fired food, so it works out just fine.

Pretty much describes what happens to the wife and I when we cave in and have Fish 'N Chips or fried clams or oysters once a year. We realize why we stopped eating that crap years ago.

Now if someone would serve a sandwich sized piece of fish and maybe a half dozen clams or oysters... maybe then we could have them once a year.

Same thing with steak. I'd like to be able to get a six or eight ounce steak instead of a 16 to 18 ounce...

Yep. Same things happens to me. I don't eat fried food for a year or so, and and then I go to Hooters (for wings of course) and get sick.
No more fried food for me anymore either.

We're pretty healthy eaters - lots of fish, veg, beans, wholegrain foods + only occasional meals with red meat - but I minimally fry quite a lot because I like making Italian and Indian dishes. That usually means frying onions, garlic and maybe other things with a tablespoon or two of oil early on in a recipe.

The times I notice how much can be used in cooking are on the few occasions we eat out. There's a Peruvian restaurant we like where the food is delicious. Only trouble is, when we get out I feel bloated and enervated.

Not 100% sure of course but both bloating and lack of energy are MSG symptoms. Along many many others as well. Some actually much more serious. I would ask the owner or manager if they use any MSG in their food. But I've learned that lot of ethnic restaurants use MSG. Especially south American and Asian restaurants. I personally stay away from MSG like a devil from the cross.
But it could be that you're simply taking in too many carbs and its making you sleepy.

Try filets . . they typically come in that size at restaurants.

Monosodium Glutamate. Basically, salt on steroids.

Too much of it can cause an allergic reaction in some people that can lead to diarrhea very quickly after eating a meal.
