best place to install strap button on neck.
my gibson songwriter deluxe has only the one strap button in the back. i see where taylor installs their strap botton on the neck. should i do the same with the gibson? thanks.

Caution
Even though everyone says it's an easy job...
...if you do it wrong, and split the heel $25 for a luthier to do it would have seemed like such good value!

IMHO, the best place to put it would be on the treble side of the heal, though that might be difficult to do it on a Gibson. Take it down to your favorite guitar tech and have him/her do it...I've never paid more than $5 and I doubt anyone would charge more than $10.

I'd go back to whichever shop you purchased your guitar from. In my case, I've had strap buttons installed by the technician on three of my guitars free of charge. At first, it was $5, then they said "just pay for the button", then "...aw heck, the buttons are only $2.85, so 'no charge'..."

On the bottom of the heel is the wrong place for a button, especially if it is a dovetail neck. Pay a few bucks and let a pro do it or it could cost you a LOT of grief.
