Cigarfan and Mark,
This build is looking fantastic, and I would imagine it's tone will be as well. Thanks for this thread; it's been very enjoyable to follow along.

Thanks ChuckS,

Cedar on walnut is always a good bet for tone! Cigarfan is great to work with and there is a lot to come with the design work on this guitar.

Are you talking about my build attempt, or my never ending search for a rosewood OM? ;-)

Either way...ongoing!

Can't wait to see yours complete!

Yeah, I was talking about your build. Didn't hear much more after you started. Your search for your ultimate rosewood OM (read that Greta) could be over with a Hatcher commission. You would never need another OM!

Ha! Well, it's very slow going. I do have the back and top cut to rough shape, and I'm starting to brace the back. I've been going super slow to try and think it through before I cut anything! I have incredible respect for all builders now, because this is no joke! But in enjoying it! I hope I can get it shaped up before the end of the year! Thanks for asking!

The man has sent me more pics. Lot's of shining color. It's a good day!

Abalone purfling and BRW binding is going on and we get a sneak peak at that incredible fretboard.

Purfling and binding on the back/sides.

Purfling and binding on the top/sides.

The headstock sandwich begins.

The abalone purfling on the face of the fretboard and BRW binding. Mark and I agreed on fossilized Woolly Mammoth ivory for side markers with abalone dots.

We have been discussing the headstock and wait till you see what Mark has in store. I don't want to say because it is in a design stage and may change but it is going to be awesome!

Wow - that's looking really good. I love the side markers at the edge of the fretboard and that soundport shape came out awesome. I also really like the ab purfling around the light color center on the rosette. That's tasteful and is going to look good from a distance, too. Nice nice nice!

Thanks Tom & Treenewt. Appreciate your following along.

Thanks J.R.! Wait till you see how Mark is tying in that sound port shape into the headstock and arm bevel! Going to be something.

Very nice, Cigarfan. The dark binding, the abalone, the walnut, and the detailing--it all works so well together. Can't wait to see what the headstock and arm bevel bring to the party!

Whoa that looks terrific - very intriguing contrast between the rosette texture and top color.
