Another advantage to "high and behind" no floor monitors is not just carrying less stuff. Contact pickups (K&K, JJB...) are relatively feedback prone when you aim a monitor at your ears from the floor with your guitar in the way. You can aggressively high pass the monitor signal and notch filter your guitar to compensate but it sounds pretty lousy which can take the fun out of playing. When we gig with the event's PA we do not bring any of our K&K equipped guitars.

We use a passive Alesis mixer that has 4 xlr channels and 2 stereo 1/4" inputs. It is more of a DAW desktop mixer, but works well for vocals, acoustic guitar, bass and drum machine. The outputs go to either Mackie 15" powered mains or the QSC K8's.

Since I already had some 2 way 15" cabs, I bought a used Yamaha powered mixer. I hope to eventually go to 12" maybe powered cabs. Now, I need to get some speaker stands. Thanks for the replies!
