Default Bringing my guitar to a Bluegrass Festival

I'm going to my first Bluegrass Festival next month and I know that jams in the campground are a big part of these events. Do most people bring their nice acoustics with them or is it better to bring a beater? Just trying to decide if I should bring my HD28 or not. Thanks!

I take beaters to stuff like that. I'm at a gathering now with my beater.

I wouldn't bring my best guitar. You're going to be outside in the heat of the day and the dampness of the night. If you leave your guitar in the car it's going to get way too hot. And this might surprise you but there is some drinking going on at those things too. Especially in the campgrounds.

No, I wouldn't bring mine, but I won't judge you for taking yours.

Take the guitar that you love to play. Take care of it and enjoy the jams.
If you leave it home, you will regret it.

You will probably see lots of very expensive instruments. $10-15k mandolins should be pretty common. Lots of high end Martin dreads, probably some vintage, pre war Gibson banjos etc.

I've been to many in Virginia, South Carolina and a few around my home state in PA. All of them I took my 1968 D28 Martin. Once I get my D28 back from a neck reset I'll be taking 2 that being my new J45 . I've got 4 less expensive acoustics but I play best with my best acoustic the 68 D28 yes it got a few bumps and nicks over the years but to me it added character. I bought it and the J45 to play not sit at home.

I always took my beater EPI Hummingbird as it blended in perfectly with the Martins and Gibsons. Never a problem with volume or Tone!.
