Skipper banjo FS/T
Roger Skipper of Garrett County, Maryland doesn’t make many instruments in a year and he makes even fewer banjos sticking mostly to guitars and mandolins which many of you are aware of. The instruments that he does turn out are perfection defined. Fit, finish, durability, and playability just can’t be beaten and this one epitomizes all of those attributes. For your consideration is a Skipper Custom Instruments “Organiasm Banjo” Serial Number #14 158 and it truly is one of a kind, the dream of a master luthier. It’s whole story along with great pics of it’s construction can be found here skipperstrings.com/B%20158.html This one is as mint as you can get. New hardshell case included. No metal in this one, everything is organic including a grain alcohol finish Other specs are listed here: tension hoop and flesh hoop are black locus Ebony “hooks” to hold the head on bone frets mahogany block rim mahogany neck It weighs only 32 ounces and it sounds like the mountains, like you just dug it out of the ground. I can’t say enough good about this banjo. Here is a video of her in action. youtu.be/9OaadXnvnxk I have it tuned to regular “G” tuning but if you tune it down into the lower registries like “D” or “C” it really roars just like all banjos with a hide head and nylgut strings—a superb combination! When tuned to regular "G" or "Sawmill" tuning it responds extremely well to a light touch. http://imgur.com/fFwcyxc Last edited by revellfa; 12-29-2021 at 09:43 PM. |

to the top. Feel free to make an offer. I don't have my heart set on a style 15 anymore (although I still wouldn't turn one down) because I just bought a Journey carbon fiber yesterday.
Let me know what you've got! |

Trade for a carbon fiber?
Great banjo, known builder. Might also trade for a carbon fiber guitar.
