Default Show Us Your Favorite Luthier-Built Vintage Martin Recreations

I've been drooling over vintage Martin recreations for the past several months. I'll start with a few stand-outs that I've seen or played.

Circa (John Slobod)

The Franklins definitely butter my toast. Especially this one:

And of course Circas... This one would've been a venetian but the koa fractured during the bending process.

Hi guys,

Since many of the Circa photos here are from my website, I thought I'd provide a link to my Instrument Reviews page where you can see many more.

Happy Holidays.

What is the wood used for the headstock in this picture? I appreciate it might not be to everyone's preferred aesthetic but it's beautiful to my eyes.

thanks Jim. i enjoyed reading your reviews and especially liked what timbre, sustain, overtones, resonance, etc mean to you (and i agree with all of them ). i have played only a few Circas but they were exceptional guitars. i hope to own one someday. thanks again!

I do love love love that headstock. If I had to make an all time top ten list just based on esthetics and all wood being unique, that one would have to been in there.

Default Tahoe Guitars 000-12s

A nice pair of 000-12s, based on a vintage Martin, built by Larry Nair of Tahoe Guitars

I've only played a few of the Circa guitars, but they played well and sounded great. This guitar is my Henderson D-28 style guitar (#591), Wayne is pretty well known for his pre-war style guitars. This one is brazilian rosewood back and sides, and an adi top. It sounds as good as it looks.
