Default BEST PICKUP FOR MARTIN 000-15M

So I just bought my second guitar, Martin 000-15M, and I'm looking for a perfect pickup for it. Any suggestion for the best pickup to install?

My music genre is folk. Strumming and guitar picking. I want something that will sound pure acoustic just like the unplugged guitar itself.

Baggs anthem. Most people with martins just put in a k&k mini in since it’s passive and simple. To each their own.

Thanks, pjbelsch. Yes, I'm thinking between K&K and LR Baggs. Which one are we talking about, the LS or just Anthem?

I'm also thinking of the M1A or M80

It's the "SL"
The Anthem is allows for easier "on the fly" tone tweaking. Most folks find it unecessary including a lot of the guys at Baggs.
The SL will perform admirably as well and once you get it dialed-in that's pretty much it. It is a very good reproduction of your guitar's acoustic tone.

I don't think there's such a thing unless you're willing to blend multiple sources including a microphone. You might be very pleased by the sound you get from the Anthem SL, and that would be great. But, everything is a compromise between convenience, natural tone, and feedback rejection - usually natural tone is sacrificed to the other two.

I'll recommend that you also check out the DTAR multi-source, the K&K Trinity systems, and the Fishman Rare Earth Blend, to name a few. There are others that allow the user to add a microphone to a pickup, but the more diy you go the less convenient it becomes.

After a lot of research I settled on the Lyric. Haven't tested it that much yet, but looking forward to it. It has a very close to the natural voice of the acoustic, but I have a feeling it might be a bit more prone to feedback than UST pickup designs, since the Lyric is a mic, not a PU.

Might worth a look as well

I am going to be probably the only one here that will recommend a Dazzo. If you want the simplicity of a K and K which is highly unobtrusive and the most natural sound of a Trance, You can have it in one easy solution. I have a Trance and it is as good as advertised but I keeping the Dazzo and selling the Trance due to the reasons above.

Now don't get me wrong, I also thought the Anthems are a great pickup as well. I didn't like how the soft braided UST changed the acoustic tone of my instrument. Some people think that it makes their instrument sound better.

For the Martin 000-15M, is it wise to have piezo and mic pickup? I'm hearing few people saying that.

DiMarzio Passive Angel + Fire-Eye Red-Eye Preamp

This is an expensive combo, but in my opinion, is certainly worth it. I'll go so far as to say this pickup chain, combined with a good acoustic amp or PA, enhances what sounds best about my 000-15 - dry, woody, percussive, and warm. Highly recommended.

That looks good. I also wonder how the LR Baggs M1 will sound wtih Martin 000-15m. Or the active will sound better.

Is there an active version of that pickup?
