The tightest you can get is plus or minus 5 cents (default is 10). At 5 that means you have a swing of 10 cents. Your ear is sensitive to 2 cents difference.

It will get you relatively close. No more than that.
Ok. But you can use it to do the JT off tuning offsets, no?

I'm going to try now to see what happens.

** update **

It's doable with the Pitchlab app, but the cents indicator jumps fast. The symbols that you use to center the tone can be used to indicate how many cents off the tone is. On the left edge of the left indicator is about -11 to -12, and then inside it is -10, etc. It's not perfect, but even tuned in CGDGAD my Larrivee sounds much better. I always had to fuss with the cross tuning with the Larrivee as it always sounded sour in standard tuning "by the book." This JT method seems to nail it well. I'm glad I read this thread. Great info.

My Strobo Clip learning curve was about 3 seconds. I never understand what's the issue with using a strobe and tuning.

Good afternoon, Stomp -- I received three of the Peterson StroboClipHD tuners yesterday (one for me and two as gifts). They are fantastic tuners!!! There is only one suggestion that I would like to make, since you work for the company, and I'm assuming that it is a super-easy add-on: the feature that gives you the standard "EADGBE" reference regardless of capo setting could be improved by having the option of the reference being "123456," where "1" is the first bass string and the "6" is the last treble string, as an option. The reason that I suggest this is that, in a club/performing setting, you wouldn't have to think at all. And, if you are working in multiple tunings across multiple guitars, you would have one standard: it would always be "123456," regardless of tuning. Thanks for the consideration!

Hi Reasley,

That feature is already built-in, select the Sweetener called "GTn", the strings will now be numbered from 1 to 6 (1 is the highest pitched string - as is the norm).
If you want to reverse that or create one for a non-standard tuning, you can do that too, by creating your own "Sweetener" with the numbers the other way around and sending it to the tuner via USB and you're done.

Now that I think of it, if you like, I'll reverse it for you and if you PM me your email address, the setting will automatically transfer to your tuner the next time you plug it into USB on your computer.

Enjoy the tuners and thanks for the nice comments!
