Default Clear stick-on pickguard material?

Can this stuff be got easily anywhere?

My Baranik doesn't have one and I'd like to offer it a bit of protection

Follow-up question - is this material genuinely non-damaging does anyone know? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Healingshie...325085&sr=1-30

Thanks :-)

Why not ask Mike himself?
I have no idea whether it is damaging, but I wouldn't want that anywhere near my hypothetical Baranik.

I once had a store apply a transparent pick guard on a Takamine of mine. I was very happy with the result.
Ten years on and the guitar shows no sign of damage

You're best off with clear mylar plastic sheets ... like below:

I don't know if that link you posted was for effect or not but....... it's not clear. I have a clear guard on my most expensive custom build and I had it installed by the manufacturer. Only Mike will know what would be right for his guitars. I (as suggested above) would also contact the builder of any guitar I wanted to modify with a contact material and have them advise on the best product.

It really depends on the finish that was used on the guitar in question. Some adhesives and rubber products will react with nitro lacquer and some varnish finishes. Not to beat the proverbial dead horse ... but ... ask Mike.

Default 'guards

With a single exception, al the pickguards I have are clear. Yeah I don't much like them. My last two don't have any pickguards - and they don't have scratches either. Yet. If that happens, they'll get covered.

It is in fact clear. Are you looking at the spruce under the clear pick guard? The mylar from the link in the post is what I use for my guitars.

Hi Timmy,

Just ask Mike Baranik - he makes clear pickguards for his guitars, and is very responsive to email/phone. Not sure I'd trust or want my Baranik with an unknown £11.99 pickguard - they're some of the finest guitars in the world. It's also unlikely to fit your soundhole properly. Get one properly made by the man himself!

Cheers,
David

(very happy Baranik owner!)

P.S. I think I've played most of the Baraniks that have come into the UK - which one is yours?
