You've got another beauty going there.

Got the headstock pearl logo in, and I got the access slot/opening to the truss rod cover put in.

another shot of the headstock. Looks good.

And the top and back prepped for finish coats.

I needed to put one more coat of the west epoxy pore filler on the sides.

From here it I can start the finish process.

Have a super day.

Kevin.

I think you could charge admission for your build threads.

Here I'm taping off the bridge area - getting ready to put clear on it. I think this guitar is turning out great so far. The box is really lively, I can't wait to get strings on it. That will be a little bit yet. This top pic is the best shape perspective.

I think the back wood looking killer!

Its hard to get the bear claw cedar to pop in pics...but I think these show it nicely. This is a super nice piece of cedar. I wish I would have bought the other five piece's I could have at the time.

Hope you're enjoying this guitar. I was going to put up an OM thread, but I think I'm going to work on getting Modified SJ#3 going. I'm really liking this guitar with the cedar top. I have another nice tight straight grained cedar top. Look me up if your interested. I'm trying to decide what to use b/s woods. Thanks.

Kevin.

Kevin - those last shots really do show the beautiful bearclaw on the cedar top. Gorgeous guitar!

Beautiful looking guitar. I really like the rosette... looks almost like tooled leather or some kind of reptile skin. Very textured, natural appearance that compliments the soundboard very nicely. That top, by the way, is mesmerizing. So much depth, like waves rolling through a liquid. It's wonderful.

Scallywag - Thanks. Your comments are greatly appreciated. I LOVE this top, in person it is so inviting. It will make someone happy.

I'm itching to get strings on it. Got the first coat of clear on yesterday, went to my aunts funeral today so I didn't get any work done. I'll be hitting it hard tomorrow.

And I'm going to get started on another MOD SJ...next one will be nice too.

Kevin.

Has anyone ever used leather or reptile skin in a rosette? I think that'd be outstanding!

Hey pickinguy - Thanks for your comment!! On my next rosette, I'm going to work on this tile concept and I'm going to be doing something similar in layout as what is on this guitar/rosette. But I think this next one will be darker (not the "reds" in it). I've got a super cool idea for it too...I'm prepping for Mod SJ#3...

Been putting on the clear coats and its going great.

One more coat to go and then I can start buffing it, then put it together.
