It's really hard to say, because so few people willingly part with their Rainsong, any model. My WS-1000 will be the last guitar to go, period, after I am on the wrong side of the turf permanently. For example, I saw a WS hybrid series example in Idaho a couple of months ago. It was only four months old, and they were asking only $300 less than the new price. It did not sell. I made an offer of about 60% of new price, or a Taylor 410 dreadnought as trade bait - plus appropriate cash. I never heard back from them, and then the ad expired. The only Rainsong sale that I personally know of is a nice condition WS-1000 that was bought from an estate for $1100. And I thought that was REALLY good deal.

The old saying is that any item is only worth what someone is willing to pay at that moment. I'd say make him an offer that you are comfortable with. Worst case, he says "no".

He told me his bottom line and it's more than I'm willing to pay.

I did find one of the more expensive CO versions recently sold on Reverb.com for $1499 and someone else in this thread got $1450 shipped for his CO version. Add in paypal fees and the take home is less. Then consider that a non-CO version is cheaper to begin with. Gets me to about $1300 or $1350 max for an in person cash deal for a WS1000N2.

I traded-in my used, like-new, one-year old RainSong CO-WS1000N2 CONCERT SERIES for $1370 dealer credit. I bought this guitar, new, from the same dealer, the year before for $2349. He sold it used for $1849. A used RainSong WS1000N2 CLASSIC SERIES sells used at my dealer for $1699. My dealer stands behind all his new and used instruments with a free lifetime-adjustment policy. This should give you some reference as to what to pay for a private sale of a used RainSong WS1000N2. I wouldn't pay more than $1300 for this guitar in a cash sale and only if you're comfortable with how the guitar plays and looks.

Regards,

SpruceTop (aka RainDance when carbonated)

That's several hundred below his bottom line, but I'm where you are. I've seen dealers selling then for not much more. Just need to keep my eyes open.

my WS-1000 N1 plays clean 9though with a VERY light touch) even without a saddle. A Blackbird Rider Steel did the same ...
