The first coat !!!!
This is what the back of the body looks like after one coat of what ever Ed uses as a varnish (sorry if varnish isn't the correct term). Ed hand applies (no spray gun) 2 coats a day over at least a ten day period to get the finish right. Man !!!!. This is going to be one awesome looking and playing guitar !!!! John |

That is some nice figuring on the primavera - if you aren't careful once you have the guitar you'll spend more time staring at the back than playing.
It would be interesting and fun to be in the shop while he does some of the work.

Ed,
When you get a chance i'd encourage you to check out the b band ast. Minimal mass to the element itself and probably my favorite single source system going. I like the element as a pickup but have opted for systems that don't change the bridge/saddle relationship. That said, I think you're in a great position to account for that presence as part of the design rather than introducing it afterward. Interesting on the preamp. I'll bet there's some eq applied (hpf?) that's helping. |

Looking great... Glad that your long wait is nearly over.. Try not to hurt yourself jumping up and down with glee..

You are the first person, besides myself, that I've ever heard of with a guitar made of Primavera wood. I used to own a Goodall (Port Orford/Primavera) grand concert size instrument. It was one of the most striking looking guitars I've seen. Very visually appealing. As I recall, Primavera, combined with the Port Orford cedar, was very neutral sounding. It was also very warm and full, which you typically wouldn't expect from a neutral sounding guitar. I don't know if your guitar will be like that but that's how I recall the effect of Primavera on tone. Of course, Port Orford is also quite fundamental with few overtones. Overall, I liked the guitar quite a bit.

Can't wait to get it home. Finale payment today and ship. Arrive late this week early next hopefully. Love it !!!
billgennaro: He's made a few parlors with the primavera, but his is his first stab at a fuller size. Luckily for me but not Ed, the first box (with some prima figured wood) was damaged, so Ed offered up his primavera he had set a side for a Tinker build which was even more figured. I'm told the prima has a mohogony tonal quality. coffeeaddict: didn't you feel the earth shake from me jumping for joy. Thanks to all. More pics and reviews after she gets home. |

The snow must have absorbed the tremmors caused by all your jumping.
