Bearting in mind that here in the UK we don't have the same worries about climate, I disagree completely. My guitars are available for me to play any time I want to a few feet from where I sit. I don't have to get up, locate a case, open it, take the guitar out, attach the strap, close the case and put it away and then finally play the guitar.

I had a friend who owned a Ferrari at one time. It covered 6000 miles in 10 years! It was built to be driven and my guitars were built to be played. 99% of the wear and tear on any guitar I have owned has been caused by playing. The worst damage in recent years was caused by the lid of a Calton case accidentally closing and gouging the edge of a guitar. How ironic is that!
