I’m not sure I’ll ever get my guitar, but will find out in the next few months. I’ve been waiting over 3 years for my Dehradun. It’s hung up in customs as the order took much longer to complete, and the Cities agreement is now changed.

If I can’t get it this spring, I will probably punt and let somebody else buy the guitar. No sense in letting it sit on a shelf for 18 months. If it’s not me, hope the new owner will enjoy it.

Joel is a great builder. I got a 6 string baritone from him a few years back. I love the deep and clear sound of the sitka and EIR combo with his design.

Somehow, while there is only one person who has mentioned me in their 2018 future, three of my first four 2018 guitars are for known forum members, and there are at least two more I know of coming. Probably I am not alone in this dilemma. What fun is that? I encourage all buyers to step up and help make the future look rosy.

Gosh Bruce. If I was getting a guitar from you I would be crowing about it! Come on kids, join the party…

Cheers

I went public with this info in the Sexauer thread but not yet here. Bruce is currently and very rapidly building me a koa/Italian spruce Schoenberg Soloist (and you can see the work in progress in that thread). Bruce's next project will be another one of his guitars for me, with the asymetrical shape, multi-scale, cutaway and wedge things going on.

So that's two Sexauers.

PLUS, one Sobell: In the target of opportunity category, I bought my fifth Stefan Sobell guitar 10 days ago and it's another OM-ish creature: Sobell New World in Malaysian Blackwood and bear-claw sitka (of all things). Here's a pretty creative guitarist giving this guitar his seal of approval. It was in my 2018 guitar game plan to buy one of Stefan's New World models and he offered exactly the guitar I wanted as a spec instrument, so I jumped. It's stellar.

For me....

Hampton Brothers (Matt and Nathan)
BRW back and sides
red spruce
Style 28 Dreadnaught
30's style bracing via John Arnold's '37 D-28,
my preferred 1 11/16" / 2 1/8" neck and bridge spacing
neck shape based on my 1948 D-18

Right now only expecting one but 2018 may bring two.

I’m expecting a Jason Kostal MDW in African Blackwood and German Spruce hopefully by the end of this year. That could easily creep into 2019. I hope to share the build on AGF.

The second will happen only if someone is foolish enough to pass it by. We’ll see.

I am in conversation with Sparky Kramer about a 12 fret Prairie Grass short scale. The beautiful Bois de Rose Prairie Grass that I purchased right at the beginning of the year has not been kind to my arthritic left hand. I am going to sell it and have Sparky build one with neck specs that will be more ergonomic for me. I have also decided that this one will probably not be rosewood so I can have a guitar that exhibits warmth but more fundamental. I’m excited to be able to work with him on this instrument.

Best,
Jayne

Well, Bruce may be referring to me as one of the negligent. We are definitely starting one in the fall of 2018, not sure if delivery will be 2018 or very early 2019, but add it to the list.

Barring the unexpected, 2018 is a slam dunk. Generally, start to delivery is about 7 weeks, for me.

Ok... a Sexauer! It is a BRW/European spruce L00 and Bruce is documenting it here: http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/f...=495531&page=2.

Rosy perhaps, but only Jayne's is Bois de Rose(y).

John
