Yeah, it seemed like there were as many luthiers as attendees. I'm sure it will pick up tomorrow. But my feet are tired from walking from one booth to another, playing some of the best guitars in the world. It's been a good day.

I hope a few busloads of attendees come tomorrow; many with their pockets bulging with stacks of Franklins to plunk down on your tables.

So far it sounds a lot like Memphis last year. Much of the time, there were more luthiers in the room than spectators. These things will take a couple go-rounds to attract the big crowds. Remember Healdsburg '13? That exhibition hall was bursting at the seams all weekend!

First year of a new Festival, pretty thin attendance; but there will definitely be some committed buyers showing up, and they will will have an absolutely awesome selection of world class guitars!
I'm blown away by all the beautiful instruments there! Mercy! I want one of each!
Ryan, thanks again for posting this thread. Does Steve have ANY IDEA how lucky he is to have you in the Kinnaird atelier?

I walked though both buildings today and saw everything. I met Burton an admired his design sense.
Spoke with Stephen Strahm.( I can never remember the spelling) I met him at SCGC. He did a stellar reset and refret on my 1982 Cruz Dread Cutaway. I will play his guitars tomorrow.
I had my Brondel under Laurent's table.
I met Bruce Sexauer 23 years ago when he was interested in windsurfing more than building it seemed at the time.
I finally met John Kinnaird in person. I had his L-00 Slothead #29 BITD.
Kathy Wingert has an incredible artistic vision with her Steampunk guitars. I had a unique guitar of hers:Koa/Adirondack E #50 I believe.
Tony McManus gave me a hug. After I brought him to Bakersfield ten years ago we were driving from the venue to meet friends for dinner and got t-boned in an intersection. Tony was driving and got pretty banged up. I bumped into him a few years later in Munich and got him to return to the land of Buck and Merle.

My SB friend Gretchen took me to play Kenny Hill's classical guitars and I was knocked out by his work. I MUST have one. I told him I would get back to him Sunday if the one I am in love with doesn't get snapped up. Just a fabulous guitar. I played his 640 scale Maple/Spruce Hauser when Teja Gerken walked up and took it though its paces. Very sweet, but I want the EIR/ Cedar model with bevels, dual sound ports and elevated neck/fretboard.

I am interested in Larssen guitars from Sweden. I played them at the 2012 Healdsburg and really was impressed.

I looked at lots of wood and sat in on Stevie Coyle and Tony McManus workshops.

Gotta play Baranik, Kinnaird, Legeyt, Schrammmmmmm, Schoenberg, Marshall Brune, Hill, Claxton, And basically one of everything tomorrow.
I will be wearing a black t shirt with a Tele that reads, "Bakersfield Sound".

Please say hello and try to get me to stop talking.

Too much fun!

That just breaks my heart. I wanted to attend today but couldn't make it work with my work obligations. Now I really wish I could've been there to play a treasure trove of awesome guitars without people around...!

Thanks so much from all of us who necessarily live vicariously through yours pics and musings.

Let's have more player's impressions: Which guitars really stood out?!

- for example, someone must have played and contrasted all of those myriad lovely Kostals?

Cheers,
Steve
