Default John Kinnaird SBAIC guitars.

I'm taking a blackwood Sitka OM with cocobolo binding and peghead inlay by jimmi Wingert of a Scottish lass doing a sword dance.

A 000 in maple and Sitka. Binding and arm bevel, bridge and fingerboard in ebony.

I'm taking one more 000. Pics tomorrow.

Very nice, brother--and some good photography as well!

Thanks Redir and brother Steve. I'm not really happy with the photography but it's heading in the right direction.

Here are a few more shots. First that maple with the oft discussed bridge design. The back has a burst by Tony, and the neck a burst by John.

Finally, the last guitar which is not so much a looker as just a basic 000 with Indian rosewood sides, a Sitka top, Koa binding, etc. It turns out to be one of the best sounding guitars I have ever made. All the planets were aligned with this one. It will be my loss leader at SBAIC.

Thanks for looking, and if you are in Santa Barbara during the show come by my brother's and my table.

John I look forward to finally meeting you face to face. The inlay is breathtaking.

It will be fun putting faces with names. Looking forward to seeing you at our table and maybe hearing you play a few tunes. (Assuming we can hear anything in that hall)

Hi John,

Beautiful guitars!

I notice you used a rather large sideport in of them.

The guitar I just completed had one around the same size and I really love the tone of that one.

It was my first soundport, so I have nothing to compare it to.
I also like the way the larger one looks.
just wondering why you chose that size?

Beautiful work, John. Really like the sunburst you did over that birdseye maple. And the OM guitar looks nice too and that's some great inlay work by Jimmi Wingert.

Smile Wow!

I would say all three are LOOKERS!

Funny, but I really like the looks of the Plane Jane number 3 with the Koa binding and the FB diamonds.

Hmmm, on reflection, it looks a bit like my #128! No wonder I like it.

All three are stunning, and I know they will stagger anyone who is within earshot!

Have fun, sell a ton, and come south to San Diego afterward if you get a chance!!!

Sadly, I'm unable to attend, but sending all good thoughts to you and ALL AGFers.

Cheers

Paul

I wish I could give you a decent answer to the sound port question . I don't follow a pattern. I make them by eye so to speak, just by making the shape as pleasing and as symmetrical as I can. Some days they turn out bigger. On that day bigger looked better . I also don't care for them to be an aesthetic feature. I wish they didn't help the sound so much because I'd then leave them off..

Thank you JR
Jimmy did a great job on the inlay. That tartan that girl is wearing is the Kinnaird tartan and jimmi inlayed each check.

Thanks Paul. That third guitar has a new neck and it's not so plain anymore..
I appreciate the invite. Wish you were coming to Santa Barbara .

Smile Sound ports...

About sound ports: I consider myself a pretty traditional guy, but I am completely sold on the sound ports! Since I play acoustically in places where there's a lot of racket sometimes, the sound port makes such a huge difference when it comes time to sing ! Being able to hear the instrument better makes me play better, too. And I need all the help I can get! Haha

My two J Kinnairds are FAB guitars, and the ports make them even BETTER!!!

It really is like having a monitor speaker built into your guitar. I have reached a point where I do not anticipate buying any more guitars that do not have a soundport and at least one bevel. Preferably an arm bevel and a rib bevel.

Plus, I kind a get a kick out of being able to look inside the dang thing while playing it !

Play on Gang! And do not fear the sound ports...

Cheers

Thanks again Paul.
You forgot to mention that the sound port pumps out good "inside the guitar box" odors straight into you face while you play. Just a little added bonus.
