Default A guitar built in 1960

With my 55th coming up this fall, I'm thinking about a birth-year guitar.

I don't have a particular guitar in mind. It could be a flattop, archtop, hollow or semi-hollow electric. The maker is not that important, it's more the idea of having a guitar born when around the same time I was.

I once had a 1960 ES-125T that I traded away, and have regretted it ever since.

I'd be willing to trade some of the guitars you see listed in my signature (The J-45 and 0-17 are off-limits), or to buy outright, or some combo of guitars and cash either way.

Let me know if you've got something from 1960 and let's talk!

Saw this on UMGF. No affiliation with the seller. Best of luck.

Default Check

When you get time, check the '60 J-45 in my signature. I would sell it to anyone on AGF 3.5% cheaper than it shows on Reverb because that's their fee. If your interested, shoot me and email. Thanks either way.

That is a sweet J-45. If I didn't have the Banner I'd probably be all over that one. Good luck with the sale!

Wow -- I've never seen a 00-18E. That might be just the ticket -- the right age, unusual, gig ready... Thanks for the tip!

Cool -- I forgot you could put a year limitation on a Gbase search. Some very cool stuff in there. That little Epiphone...

Hi JP,
That Cortez looks in great shape. I could be wrong--but that neck looks to be left over from the Epi factory mated to an LG 2. Look at the heel. A true time piece.

How about a late 59? Gibson Country Western slope shoulder?

That sounds like a great guitar, but with a late October birthday, everything happened in 1960, so I'm sticking with that...

Here's a pic of my 1960 Harmony Meteor (sorry, but it's not for sale).

I started playing in 1964 and have been through over 100 instruments since then. Of all the Pre CBS Fenders, Custom Shop Fenders, Gibsons, Gretches, Guilds, etc., I've owned over the years, NONE of them sound as good as this fabulous old Harmony Meteor.

I found it on eBay after a long search. It was worth it!

I highly recommend you keep your eye out for one of these. If I'd found this one in the beginning, I doubt I'd have ever bought another electric.

Bill

The Melody Maker is cool, but the Meteor is over the top! I think I'm going to narrow the electric side of the search down to Harmony. On the acoustic side, I played a Sovereign over the weekend and was really knocked out by the sound. Getting a little hint that they might be what I'm looking for.
