Several of us among the AGF community have commissioned a Matt Eich "Mule" steel resonator, including me -- great craftsmanship and wonderful full, sweet tone.:

I reserve the right to buy one of these honey dippers in a couple of years..... I have to think of an excuse to tell my wife why I need one...... Hmm, maybe I'll buy her a few more Michael Kors pocket books....
Ha! I know, its not a tricone, and its a Gretsch!

IME people who call a biscuit cone resonator guitar a "dobro" are the same sort of people who would call a cittern a guitar ...

Like it or not, for the general public who even know that much - "dobro" (with a small d) equates to a resonator guitar - period. Heck, most are not even aware of the difference in the hardware underneath the hubcap. Most of them have no idea of the Dopyera brothers origin of the name, and less idea of the incestuous relationship between Dobro and National. |

I'd like to post a photo but it seems my only option is to post a photo from a hyperlink. How do I post a photo from my computer?

Only partly tongue in cheek. Years is a long time. 10 bucks a week is a grand in 2 years...

Here's a photo of my main guitar - Scheerhorn Maple L Body guitar. Not only is it a beautiful instrument it sounds/plays better than any other wood-bodied squareneck resonator guitar I've ever played. A few years ago I installed the Fishman Nashville Series pickup in the guitar which I use with the Jerry Douglas Aura pedal which is the greatest technological advancement for squareneck resonator guitars in the past 20 years. I had to sacrifice a little bit of pure acoustic tone by installing the pickup but I greatly prefer my plugged in sound over a microphone in 9 out 10 gig situations. It really sounds good!

Hey Rob,
Can you make that photo a little bigger? I'm missing the thread count on your shirt... (Love to see that Scheerhorn without scrolling sideways forever. That could likely be my next instrument.) Dave |
