Columbian Tiple Build- From the box to the finish
I have done a few instruments but have never taken a photo gallery of the process. Although this is partially started up to a point, there are many critical parts from here onward that I find many curiosities in methods.
Some Specs: Soundboard: German Spruce Back/Sides : Madagascar Rosewood Neck Wood : Spanish Cedar w/pernambuco/rosewood laminate Fingerboard: African Blackwood Bracing : German Spruce Kerfing : Port Orford Cedar Bridge : African Blackwood Bridge Pl. : Osage Orange Binding : Macacauba/Satinwood side purfling Purfling : b/w/b/w Fan Bracing Scale length: 20.559 Box tuned to B Mortis and Tenon joint: 1/4" wide The main question that I haven't really attempted before is the box tuning and mortis and tenon joint. Order of processes is always interesting to me as well. Binding before box tuning/perimeter sanding? Neck fitting before binding? 1. When tuning the box, which nodal points on the body am I accessing? 2. Does tuning work in conjunction with perimeter sanding? 3. Can someone describe perimeter sanding as far as the method, I was taught to mirror tap tones from outer edge inward progressively. Last edited by funkymonk#9; 03-04-2017 at 10:52 AM. |

This is a personal build not a paid build and is more about discussion and questions I have than a show and tell.
