For lower price ($1.5k - $3K) look for a used Heritage Sweet 16 - same size as ES-175, but all carved with a maple back and spruce top and one floating or built-in pickup.
For more bucks ($3K or more), early 50's Gibson L-7C (acoustic), It's cutaway and pretty much an L-5C without all the bells and whistles (and ridiculous price). |

The guitar is an AF75 according to somebody who commented on one of his (ipo66 ) you tube channel. I have an AG75 which I recently got for $400 that I can vouch is great value especially when compared to my custom shop gibson es 339. I did trade pick ups for a lollar charlie christian one that I had from a guitar I traded in. I do like the smaller body of the AG75 vs the AF75.
The action, fit and finish were really good right out of the box. The resonance is amazing. It could use a better bridge and tuners and I may do that eventually. At that price there is a lot of room for upgrades. |
