Default Build thread: Gwaltney 000-13 Carpathian/Cocobolo

Greg just sent me some pictures of the rosette for my Carpathian/Cocobolo 000-13, and I thought I'd share a couple of them here...

The rosette is macassar ebony [edit: it's actually ziricote (see later posts in this thread)] with a cocobolo ring in the middle. This should go beautifully with the rest of the guitar--the back and sides are cocobolo and the binding is macassar ebony.

It won't be too long now... can't wait!

I see you had to balance the stable. Bet it'll be nice.

Default 'wedge'

Hey Jim,

great taste. Can you post a picture where you can see the wedged body?

Hi Karl,

The only pics I have of the body wedge are from the initial stages of the build. I should have some updated pics soon....

That "maccassar ebony" sure looks like ziricote.

At least it's beautiful Ziricote yeah, I didn't mention the species to Jim, he just figured it was Maccassar because the binding is going to be Maccassar.

Cheers,

D'oh!

Yep, I assumed... and I was wrong. It's still beautiful, though!

Yeah, my fault, Jim's guitar is currently under the spray gun, I'm hoping to have it playable by the end of February....of course pics to follow.

Cheers,

Hi Jim,

That ring of Cocobolo inside the Ziricote ring on top of the Carpathian is stunning. I love the contrast of colors.

Enjoy,
BK
