TRS to XLR male cable question
I have a Yamaha MG10XU mixer and I need to go from the monitor out, which is TRS (not XLR), to the XLR input on the powered speaker. Is there anything specific I need to look for as I purchase a cable, or will any balanced TRS to XLR cable do just fine? Thanks in advance for the help.

Methinks any good quality balanced TRS to XLR cable will do the trick.

http://www.markertek.com/product/na3...-inch-trs-plug You might need short interconnect adapters instead as sometimes the TRS outputs are too close together on the smaller consoles to get the XLR adapters. So you might want to use these: http://www.markertek.com/product/msc...1-5-foot-black

You don't have to run TRS to XLR out. Most powered speakers have combo jacks that will accept TS,TRS and XLR. Unless you're not getting enough output or experiencing noise. I did a gig last night and ran an unbalanced 1/4" to a QSC K8 we set up for a monitor. It worked fine YMMV.

Thanks everyone for the replies! I realize that I can connect the mixer to the speaker with a TS cable, but I run the risk of introducing noise/interference that way, right? I realize it can work, especially with a short run, but it doesn't seem ideal. |

Amazon sells GLS TRS to XLR conversion cables in short lengths (3' or 2') in either male or female XLR. Works fine and you can use your XLRs.
