Default Taylor 214 with solid koa b/s

I see a Taylor 214 advertised as having solid koa back and sides. I know they had solid sapele back and sides over 10 years ago. Did they EVER make a 214 with solid koa back and sides?
Thanks for your replies.

Default 214 Solid B/S

I know that in recent years you had to go to the 300 series or up to get solid B/S. A quick call or eMail to Taylor should give you the answer.

If you can get the serial number they would be able to nail it down for you.

After a bit more checking it seems that it changed around 2004.....? If there is back bracing it's probably solid. No back bracing means its slightly arched laminate.

Hope that helps. Let us know what year it is and what you find out. I'm sure the question will come up again.

It is advertised as a like new 214ce Deluxe koa. I don't think they were even making the Deluxe model 10 years ago. Don't know the serial number or the year.

I believe it's the new 214ce deluxe which has the layered koa back and sides. I played one in my local shop last week.

CL ad from Eureka Springs? I think the seller is either mistaken or lying. Ask for a closeup pic of the label inside and check w/ Taylor.

No, they did not. The description in the ad you are looking at is incorrect.

+1. The 214 had solid back/sides only from 2003-2006 and it was only Sapele not Koa.

Not solid Koa, but probably a very fine sounding guitar!

I played one at a GC a few weeks ago and was pretty close to "blown away" by it. I own a 210e DLX, and have played a bunch of the 2XX Taylors. They're fine guitars in general, but the Koa one was cut from a different cloth!
