Default Mac OS Update - Now M-Audio Not Working

I just updated my Mac to the newest OS (Dont know the version, 10.14? Maybe) on sunday 9th Oct and now its not picking up my external sound card. Ive tried uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling them and still nothing.

Long shot but anyone else having probs since update?

Cheers

I know this is not any help but always check the compatibility of your current application software before updating the operating system.

Something that might help - You might be able to go back to an earlier version of the Mac OS.

Another thing that might help - check with MAudio re this.

Are you talking about OS Sierra 10.12 --- the version will be displayed by clicking the Apple Icon upper left and click "About This Mac " at the top of the dropdown window

As sdelsolray said do you know if M Audio even has drivers that are compatible with Sierra yet?

I've been seeing promo for Sierra 10.12 but it doesn't appear at the top of my App Store update page yet. New releases are often met with the precaution to "wait for the bugs to get ironed out before installing". I'd be interested in hearing from more folks on this forum about this new OS (apparently the X has been dropped) particularly as it relates to Logic Pro X and Apogee Audio interfaces.

I'm at work so that's why I'm unable to 100% know - But you're all probably right and it more than likely is 10.12 not 10.14 (was just a quick guess)

To be honest though, the drivers for M-Audio don't even go up to what I was on OS wise and they still worked anyway. The last time M-Audio updated them was Nov 2014.

Had a wee google about it and someone said to try and squeeze the ends of the firewire cable to make the contact tighter - so I'll try that when I go home tomorrow morning or when I get up.

trevor, i believe it would be fine to update for logic and apogee audio interfaces. however, if you use au or vst plugins, they may not be updated yet. i would recommend waiting a while. izotope sent me an email advising not to update yet for their plugins, so that is what i'm doing.

Thank you very much for this advice. It's really timely given that I've just been looking into adding Izotope RX 5 to my editing tool kit.

With Windows and Max OS upgrades it really pays to check the recommendations of your hardware and software vendors when the new OS version is available.

You should be able to revert to an older version of OS-X.
