Default Fine hairline scratches

Just got a Gibson with some fine hairline scratches in the lower upper bout. Doesn't really bother me, but if there is an easy way to buff them out by hand, I'm up for it.

I understand it is the normal Gibson nitro finish. And this is a sunburst and all the scratches are in a black patch.

Any suggestions and/or required products would be appreciated.

An automotive swirl remover should do the trick for you. (Silicone free is good, it seems.) I use finiski levelling compound with a cotton ball (don't use acrylic). Test an inconspicuous area first.

Thanks Ned.

I've got four or five fine automotive cleaners in the shop, so I'll find the least abrasive and silicon free of the bunch.

And do a test on the back first.

You can remove a tuner and try under its footprint on the back of the headstock.

Thanks

Silicone. Silicon is a solid.
