Default Thoughts on an Epiphone and a Yamaha

I am looking for a sub $300 dreadnought. I only really need it for the few bluegrass jams I attend through out the year. I was looking at a Yamaha FG700S or a Epiphone Limited Edition Hummingbird Artist Acoustic.

I'd go with the Yamaha.

I'd buy the Yamaha because I just think it's a better guitar for Bluegrass.

No brainer here....Yamaha. If you haven't done so already, look at the FG730s You can pick them up online for what your wanting to pay usually with free shipping. Might want to check out the want adds here on the AGF. Noticed a really good deal on a used FG730

You will have to step up to the Mastermilt Epi to get what you need.
The Yamaha will do it as is but even better after a set up, new bone saddle and Bluegrass gauge strings.
Get the Yamaha!

I looked hard at a masterbuilt, but i would have a hard time trying to sell it to the GF on why I would need yet another guitar since i have a Loar Seagull 12 a Cordoba classical alone with two CV strats and an American made Peavey strat...

I think you could go with the Epiphone EJ-200 Artist (apparently made in a different factory/country than the regular EJ-200) and get a powerful 'dread in a jumbo body. If one can look past the expectation of what a jumbo should do, you might find one powerful instrument with the Epiphone.

Yammy FG-730S if you want rosewood....Yammy FG-700S if you want mahogany. Either way, you can't go wrong.

The used FG-730S is the clear choice for a budget b/g jammer.
My 2'nd pick would be a used Seagull S6. Po mans Martin.

Yamaha dominates the $300 and under range - nothing close.
