Savarez Argentine Strings
All you gypsy jazz players, have you had problems with string breakage with these strings? The wound strings seem unusually prone to breakage at the string posts.
Thx in advance. Edit: After talking with the guy at Juststrings.com, I'm going to try the following types of strings: Jazz flatwound (any recommendations?) Jazz roundwound (ditto) Regular Acoustic strings (prob ain't gonna work) Argentines with the ends treated with silk wraps Any other suggestions? Thx

Argies are notorious for short life according to my friend's over on D'jangobooks. That said I've never had problems with them breaking on my Altamira, and I beat them pretty hard. If they're breaking at the posts it could be burrs or sharp edges on the post, especially where the hole is drilled thru. Most people I know who break strings at the post are doing the Frank Ford string lock method to wind strings; I use the old school 3 wraps around the post then thru the hole. This eliminates any sharp bend on the string and prevents a break at the post even if you have rough or sharp hole edges on the post.
