Default Maybe I don't suck too bad after all

The other day one of the women at church asked me to play guitar for her in a duet she is singing with her sister for a special program at church. I was floored and very honored to have been asked to play guitar for her duet. What makes it even more of an honor is that she comes from a family of very good musicians and vocalists.

This gives me a great shot of confidence in my abilities.

We're never as bad as we think we are and we'll never be as good as we'd hoped to be.

Couldn't have said it better.

To the OP, good for you!

That's great! Hope it all goes well for you.

I've played guitar in 5 or 6 weddings but when they asked me to play guitar they quickly followed it with, 'I have someone to sing...'. I had no idea people were that smart

It is a song I have never heard before called "A Servant's Heart". A nice simple song in 3/4 time with a Southern gospel feel to it. They do a wonderful two part harmony in the chorus.

Are you sure she's not the tone deaf sister? ;-). I'm joking, of course. Congrats on the compliment and opportunity.

Thanks for the offer but the set will be totally au natural. No mics, no amplification. It will be a very intimate setting with maybe 12-18 people in attendance.

Don't screw it up!
ONLY KIDDING!

A great opportunity for you, which I'm sure is well deserved and will work out fine. Enjoy it as best you can.

Here is a short video clip of the performance. Those two women can sing.

It is from Facebook so I can't embed it.

Since this request comes from experienced musicians who you've been around, I'll venture a guess that they view you as both a qualified musician and a worthy collaborator. The two don't always go hand-in-hand. Congrats - small acoustic combos like this are my favorite outlets.
