Default Gibson SG Special 2006 vs. 2017

Does anyone know what changes were made to the SG Special between these two years? I'm trying to decide between a very nice used 2006 and a new one.
I believe one change was that Gibson started putting a cheaper maple neck in them (vs. mahogany). Maybe body, too. What else was changed?

Here's the specs for the 2017 Gibson SG Special. It has a mahogany neck. 490R/490T pickups and comes with a nice gig bag. Gibson did put a maple neck on some SGs ... I think it was the SGJ.

Not sure of the 2006.
