Default Interface: Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 or A&H ZED-10fx

I'm looking into doing some recording for the purpose of arranging original music and collaborating mainly. I'm on a tight budget and since I have been interested in a small mixer for live use (ZED10, Onyx) could I get by with killing two birds with one stone here?

Or is a dedicated interface like the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 going to be a better investment - does it come down to the preamps or what?

Any pros/cons for either idea, all advice appreciated.

Edit: To clarify, I can't afford both a mixer and interface right now, so I'de rather buy the interface...that is unless the ZED mixer can serve both functions adequately.
