Archtop I.D. and Repair help
Anyone like to take a stab at helping me identify this sad old wreck? I picked up for $20 at a garage sale. Someone has sanded off the headstock logo. The whole thing is coming unglued, the neck was only held on by the fingerboard extension. Right where the parallel braces run down the top, it appears to have sunken in. The braces are still glued in tight, although they are the only thing still hanging on to original glue. I'd like to know what this thing is. I kind of think it's a Harmony but not sure. Also any advice for fixing this caving in top would be appreciated. I have the neck off as well as the back since they were practically coming off when I got it anyway. Thanks for any help.

Have a look at the harmony database here:
http://harmony.demont.net/ Are there any numbers stamped inside? |

The only numbers I have found were stamped on the neck heel - 15 10. Couldn't seem to make anything out of that. Thanks for the replys

From looking at the attached pics - It looks to be sagging where the top braces are, wierd...Is it sagging all the way up towards the neck? or is it just by where the bridge was?

It seems to be saggin all the way up towards the neck, even though the braces are still glued tight. I though it was pretty weird too.

That's pretty cool. I'll bet it's fun to play. I like to see old guitars be salvaged. Last night I made a plaster mold of the top of this old thing with hopes of sanding it to correct the sagging part and using the hot sandbag method to de-warp it. The mold didn't turn out as well as I would have liked so I'm going to have to try again.

Glad to hear you have formulated a plan for repair. Be sure to post some pics. Sandbag method sounds interesting.

It looks like a Harmony I restored. The headstock shape and tuners are very much like the one I worked on. Good luck with your project.
