Default Hello and does anyone know what this is?

I've had this guitar for about 15 years and I have no idea what what it is. The scratch plate and pickup I've had put on as it was acoustic when I bought it for £5 at a car boot sale. The compensating tail is Hofner but I put that on too. I think it's German and from the 50s. There isn't any indication of who manufacturered it on it. Thanks for any help.

Sorry I don't know what it is but it looks great. And for 5 quid too, nice.

The tailpiece looks like its from a Hofner, but the guitar itself looks more East German, possibly by Musima. Could you post some more photos?

Try asking Hammertone on the Jazz guitar forum. He knows all about German archtops.

The zero fret could certainly be German. It would help to have a photo of the headstock not taken in front of a computer screen. You can't make out the outline of the top. Also are there any marks or labels visible inside the sound holes?

As you have chosejn to place the light coloured headstock against your monitor it is not possible to view it in detail.

A better image might help.

Hi, Thanks guys for your responses. Sorry for the delayed relpy, I've been manic at work for the last few days so only just managed to check this thread again. Sorry for the unhelpful photo too - it was one that I had on my phone from a while ago. I'll try and take some more candid photos and get them on over the next couple of days.

The back of the guitar has been off as one of the braces detached and had to be repaired. There is nothing inside the guitar. The headstock is just mother of pearl (or a mock plastic veneer).

thanks!

It seems to have the same headstock as this Framus:

Try here. Vintage Framus

Try the Missouri - it's darker but looks similar.
