Default Question About StewMac's Taylor Standard Neck Profile Template...

I've always shaped my own necks to feel but saw this on StewMac's site and thought I would give it a go. The profile looks interesting but the depth they have spec'd on the template is .628" at the first fret. .640 at the 5th and .654 at the tenth fret. What does the measurement mean?

That's so crazy thin that there's no way a neck would even hold shape at those depths. Could it be they are using that spec without the fret board? Very confused as to how to apply a .628" depth that seems it would create a crazy thin neck. Am I missing something?

Thank You

DOH, just reread the description and the measurement is indeed from the bottom of the fretboard.

Default A thought

I'm not responding to the original question, but commenting on using the Taylor shaping template: I bought one and used it on my last two projects. I'm pleased, I have a repeatable carving reference. And the thickness worked out fine.
