Default NGD! Well, ok I built her. Kitchen Dreadnought model 1

Hee! I played her today for the first time! It took me a year of reading, learning, getting some great advise from those that know so much more than I. The build took from June 29th 09 to June 22 10
Man, the stuff I have learned. Right and wrong.
I built her backwards (not on purpose) The front arched the back flat. I used high thin braces many advised against. I made so many mistakes. Redid many things more than twice; such as removing and replacing the Backstrip. The neck angle was a bugger and could not have done it without some valuable advise.
The string heights still need messed with but boy she plays. I brought the guitar up to tune half expecting wood to go flying! It didn't. A very warm tone, medium sustain. I played the first tune for my family. My wife cried with joy.
I will have details in the DIY area in a few days. Copious amounts of pictures and notes for the curious will be posted there as soon as I gather, resize and make sense of my scribbling.
For the players;

Some bone dust near the nut.
Mahogany Back and sides, Lutz Top, Spanish Cedar neck, IR fretboard and Bridge, 84Pa Ninja Cow Bone for the nut and saddle, Walnut trim, McKnight Osage Orange in the fish and Heel cap.
I'm sure I have a few hours of fine tuning. Tonight, I'll just play her!

Hi YJ…
What a great story, and what a pretty guitar. I like the modern art-ish look of the rosette and the inset semi-circle in the upper bout.

Hey I bet you did learn from this experience in ways it will affect your relationship with guitars down the line...wow thanks for sharing with us.

Looks great! Way to go. Want to hear clips when time permits too. Maybe when you do make it to DC for a gathering you can bring it. Congrats.

The nut ended up at 1 11/16", string spacing I measured in an 1/8" on the sides then used an old Yamaha nut for the slot locations. The neck is fatter than a Yamaha. I radiused the fingerboard at 15"
It was a scratch build with some prepped parts. The neck was "prepped" I still put 40+ hours into it but it started off as a Martin second.

Sound clip technology still defies me! I will have her at McKnight Jam and we in the past have had some folks recording open mikes. Hopefully someone more tech savvy can help me out.

Way to go. I just have to install the tuners, attach the bridge, shape the saddle and my first will be done too.

Congratulations.
