Holy smokes! How in the world was he allowed to play against the Sabres? Obviously they knew he'd been injured in the previous game since he left wearing a walking boot. Any idea how long he's likely to be out?

Pens sign Hornqvist to a long term deal. The Flyers better look over their shoulder because the Pens are looking to get a Stanley Cup Hat Trick!

Original xray came back negative so that's why he played. Not sure why you'd put him in the lineup with a walking boot though. Looks like he'll be reevaluated in 2 weeks.

That would be sweet. Especially beating Washington again ... although I'd prefer to see the Pens avoid the Caps this playoff season.

Crap - Matt Murray out of the Pens' lineup with a concussion. Anyone know how long the initial estimate is?

Most often Pens will not speculate on a concussion time frame. Only time I remember that they did was with Crosby once when he got concussed in a practice, and they assured everyone it wasn't "severe".

He took a high shot to the face mask from Maata in practice. Sully predictably didn’t give an estimate for Murray’s return.

Come on Dru, this isn't some namby-pamby baseball player. This is Patrice Effin Bergeron. He's played with a broken rib and puncture lung!

He's the heart and soul of that team.

What's up with the Pens? The Bruins are ahead 7-3 in the 2nd period.

It's 8-3 now. Pens missed their flight to Boston. Not sure who those guys are that are wearing their uniforms.

Missed flight? Then probably a change in routine as well. Good win for the Bruins - the most goals they've scored since 2012.

I clicked the radio on with 5 minutes left on my way home from a class and I thought I misheard when they said the score was 8-4. Everything Don Sweeney touches these days is turning into gold. Now if they can only find a way to beat Washington. Or at least get lined up so they wouldn't meet until a later round, since the Caps never get out of the first.

Part of it was that number 30 was not on the ice and the controversial backup goalies (plural, since one was pulled very early in the game) were not up to the challenge.

Yeah, Jarry and DeSmith were not good. Rask wasn't particularly sharp either for that matter. Very tellingly, at one point late in the 2nd period attempted shots on goal were approximately 50 to 10 in favor of the Bruins. That stat indicates a lack of total team defense for the Pens, not just goaltending. Most interesting stat in a game that saw 12 total goals scored? How about that Kris Letang was not on the ice for any of them, and he led the Pens in time on the ice at over 25 minutes!

Yes, their D is certainly lacking. Matt Hunwick in particular is getting flamed by the local fanbase on the sports radio channel.
