Default Amazon.com Gift Card Pop Up Scam on AGF

Is any other AGF member experience a very annoying pop up for an Amazon Gift Card while using the AGF on an iOS device? It is happening frequently to me if I use my iPad to access the AGF. This has been going on for about a month.

I Google’d the issue and apparently you can’t clear it from your device as the pop-up is attached to the website has to be addressed by a website owner. I reached out to a moderator to make then aware of the issue but have not gotten a response yet.

If the same is happening to anyone else, please advise a moderator so they know the issue is not isolated.

Thanks!

Bob

Just followed advice to download Purify app on my iPad ($2) and made sure it was enabled in my Safari settings. Will advise if it worked. I’m also going to download the AGF app.

Thanks! This is (hopefully was) driving me crazy!

I followed all that Jeremy suggested, including to ensure that Purify is enabled in Safari...that’s a key point. Since doing that, no more problem for me.

Same here. I installed Purify, enabled it in the Safari settings and no more issues. Thanks to all!

Just a note on the Purify app: there are other free apps that perform the same function, that one just happens to be my favorite.

That's what's happening to me too. Never get it on the laptop but can't get past it on the iPad. I'll download the ad blocker later today.

I put Purify on and enabled it, and the popup instantly reared its ugly head. I guess I can't visit the forum on my iPad anymore. It drives me nuts. Fortunately, it's not doing it to my laptop.

Steve, on your iPad, did you go to Settings-Safari-Content Blockers , and turn Purify on there too?

Default Annoying pop-up while on forum

Wonder if anyone else is experiencing this pop-up while viewing the forum. Seemly at random a white box in the middle of the screen will take over. Just when I think it's gone, it will pop up again. The only way to get rid of it is to repeatedly hit the "back" button. It only comes up when I am viewing the forum, no other site.

It's addressed to "amazon.com user" and offers a choice of 3 prizes, a $1000 or a new iphone and something else which I forget. There is a clock running with a diminishing time period to respond by answering three easy questions. It apparently is a "race" to complete the questions as others will also doing so and may claim the best prize first.

It appears that it will require making a certain value level of purchases to qualify for the prizes. I didn't go any further. Here is the interesting part, it does not come up on my main computer, only my iPad. I don't ever go to Amazon on my iPad, in fact it is very limited in use.

Anyone else ?

I have the same issue, disable java and it will stop the popup. If you do a google search you will find it's a very common issue for ipads and iphones.

I got the same one most of last week. I was pretty much unable to use the forum with my I pad - drove me crazy. I downloaded a pop up blocker from Norton/Symantec & that seems to have stopped it.

If you are using a different browser other than Safari, you will continue to experience the issue unless you download/purchase a content/ad blocker that works across the entire device.

You can also install the AGF app or Tapatalk to get around it.
I battled this for weeks. Cleared history/cookies and bought an ad blocker app...which blocked it for a while, then the pop up returned. Switched from Safari to Firefox a few days ago...and so far so good.
