Default Baseball Trade Deadline?

Armchair quarterbacks?

I want to see the Mariners make a move for Price and a big bat. After 44 years of Cubs, this M's team has me enjoying big league ball again.

What say you? Predictions?

The M's seem all in, so I can see them trading Walker+. I'd have a problem giving that much for Price without an extension in place. And then I'd have a problem giving a guy with declining velocity a mega-deal extension.

I'm still on the Cubs train....and they already made their big splash (which I think is a really good splash for them), so there won't be much more for them to do. I will say, though, you might regret forsaking the Cubs in the near future. They are constructing a colossus and it's nearing completion. They just need some young starting pitching.

The Brewers need a shortstop to go anywhere in the post season. We have Jean Segura locked in through 2018, and he's a great long term project. Right now we need a stronger player in the six spot. Sean Rodriguez and Asdrubal Cabrera are possibilities. They say Starlin Castro could go on the block, but even with the change under the couch cushions, we'd be light.

Agreed. I don't see the Brewers being able to put a package together for Castro.

No way, but we can dream.

I think it's going to be difficult for the American League East to sit still because no one has really taken control of the division (although Baltimore is doing their best). Teams aren't going to know if they're in the race or out of it.

What date is the deadline?

I'll still root for the Cubs, and even the Phillies with Sandberg as skipper. But my 7 yr old says he's for the M's & I have to go with my boy.

Last night's loss was dull, and unfortunately seems to be what we might expect if we don't add hitting. Dull 2-1 losses to come.

Was a time I was excited for this time of year. No more.....My Phillies are toast.

They have very little trade bait and an aging and quite untalented roster.
A few core pieces to build around (a few) but big contracts that won't allow them to buy their way out.

I fear years of below mediocrity are about to return.

The Mariners picked-up Kendry Morales after losing him during the off-season. With their lack of offense, that actually seems like a pretty good move. I also LOVE that the move wasn't on the radar of any of the online pundits. Kendry is probably a better fit than a lot of other names that have been floating around.

Hopefully the M's wil be pick-up another veteran hitter. The one move probably isn't enough to get that wild card spot, especially playing in the AL West. Fingers crossed.

My Pirates have a need at first base and could use some pitching stability.

They're close though.....very close.

Jake Peavy got traded from Boston to San Francisco. He was 1-9 with Boston this year (ouch) but got very little run support. He joined Boston at last year's trade deadline, just in time to win a World Series with the team.

I've been watching his last two seasons.....he still has the tools! SF just made a great bullpen find! Dodgers and SF down to the wire!(misspelled Tigers pick-up....Soria, not Soriano)
