Remember the movie "Airplane?" Surely you jest. Blame it on the chicken of the fish. Feel safe knowing that peanuts are not an option.

At one point, I was flying about 3 days out of 5 for a couple years. I came to believe that some people lose their minds when they get on a plane. See more screwy behavior at airports than almost anywhere else.

From 2005 to 2010 I was flying more than 110K air miles each year. I passed up a nice promotion that would have required even more travel. It was not good for my mental health nor my family life.

I applied for a less senior managerial position (i guess one could call it a demotion) that now requires little to no travel. Im loving it..... Flying, you can have it.

My last flight after a short gig in Austin, Tx. MY guitar is strapped to my back and I'm carrying a new hat box in hand. A female flight attendant Screams at me as I'm about 100 feet from plane door: either put down the guitar or the hat, or don't board the plane. I say: "you are shouting, are you in pain? I put the hat on and threw the empty box at her, as I boarded the plane. JUst one more impaired pseudo-professional showing up for her act.

It used to be you got on the plane, flew to your destination, and got off the plane. Why do so many go absolutely insane on flights these days?

Thankful that I have absolutely no reason to step on a plane anymore - if I can't drive, I won't be going.

Amen. I have told my wife that I will never step foot on a commercial airliner again as long as I live. If I have to travel any significant distance from home I will rent a car and drive, and yes I realize that driving is much more dangerous than flying but the behavior of the people flying these days and the flight attendants is no longer acceptable for me. Besides, the director of Home Land Security just recently said the possibility of a major terrorist attack on America is the highest it has been since 9/11. Just one more reason to stay off of commercial airlines. I realize some people have no choice. I'm just thankful that I do. It's simply the world we live in now.

The United doctor episode was flat out crazy on the airlines part....not only taking him physically off the plane, but doing it so employees could fly, when they have privileges to fly on other airlines free or could have rented them a car and drove to Louisville in 4 hours. Not to mention the cops put hands on him and didn't charge him. I always drive, and airline employees and other passengers are the reason why....

There was a time when I did plenty of flying, now I really dislike the whole experience.
If I can avoid it, I will.

There are more than 75,000 flights daily in the US with more than 1.7M passengers. That is a lot of humans interacting with other humans and the majority carry cell phones which capture and record. Add in that there is a lot of time to fill on the 24 x 7 x 365 news channel cycle along with social media and for some it feels like it is just getting worse. No excuses for poor behavior, just a perspective on what we are fed via the news outlets and internet.
