Default ~~SOLD~~ FS 2017 Taylor 814ce DLX ~~SOLD ~~

SOLD...HEADED TO SEATTLE
This is one of the hardest things I have had to do in very a long time, but the reality is, I have no choice. I have to put my new 814ce DLX on the "for sale" block.

Since my hand/wrist surgery last spring I just cannot play any 14 fret guitar for more than 15-20 minutes without a lot of discomfort/pain.

I struggled with the mod V neck profile on both of my Martins so I sold them. I found that the Taylor necks do work for me so I went out and bought two, a 322e 12 fret and the 814ce DLX. I can play the 322e 12 fret all day with zero issue. I pick up the 14 fret, 814ce DLX, and after 15-20 minutes, it gets put back in the case. It has less than 12 hours total play time on it in the three months I have had it. I am so saddened since this is the best sounding guitar I have ever played. At the beginning I thought everything was going to work out for me, but I was wrong.

My hope is to sell this and get an 812ce DLX 12 Fret.

Here is the link to my NGD...with many photos.

The guitar is absolutely perfect in every way. Smoke, pet, kid free properly humidified home. It has never left my home since it arrived here.

I would like to get $SOLD shipped/insured to the lower 48 I hope this is a realistic price....Please contact me here via PM if you would like to talk. I will forward my cell number.

Oh man...if I could justify another acoustic, it would be this one, a singer/songwriter's dream!! Good luck with the sale!

You have no idea how not being able to keep this saddens me...it is such a beautiful sounding guitar. I just hope it sells sooner rather than later so I can get the 812ce DLX 12 fret.

Nice guitar! Surely as new as this is and with as little play time as it has LA Guitar would take it back in trade?? That may be the best solution to get more of your money back and get the alternative that you seek in one easy transaction.

If you haven't done this, I would encourage you to discuss it with them. I've heard they are pretty good to work with...certainly something to explore.

Thanks for the kind words.

Mike,

Got your email but I am not sure you're getting my responses so I will chime in here, as I think others might be interested.

Here is the general, not set in stone rule when it comes to trading in a guitar at a guitar store. A readily available pre owned guitar from one of the major builders will have a fair market value of 50% of current MSRP (not MAP, or any discounted price). Regardless if you bought the guitar from them or not, a guitar store will allow between 50%, and 80% of that fair market value, depending on the margin on the guitar you are buying. As an example, if you are buying a new Martin at maximum discount, there is no margin that can be moved over to the trade, so you will not get more than what the dealer is willing to pay outright for that used guitar. Same goes for hard to find guitars.

Bottom line, if you are not in a hurry, you will always do better selling your used guitars on your own, and work your best deal with the dealer on the new guitar.

Wow, this is a terrible shame for you. That guitar is such a beauty. I hope you sell it soon. I wish it was a Dread because I would consider it. Best of luck!

Considering how often this question comes up, the above would make a great AGF sticky, Ted....
