Default "La ruelle" (first recording with my D-28)

Hello everyone,

I recently purchased a lovely 1983 D-28V BRW. I had always wanted a Martin dreadnought and couldn't pass up the opportunity to own a near mint 34-year old model.

I couldn't be more pleased with the guitar and play it every day.

While I am extremely busy at work, I found the time to write a modest piece which I would like to share with you.

The photo at the end of the clip was taken near my home. It is a dark and quiet back street called "Avenue Savoie". The front street is actually one of the busiest of Montreal so the photo is misleading of the neighbourhood's vibe.

There are music pieces that urge an audience (or an individual to applaud as soon as they end.

There are pieces where the performance so entrances the listener(s) that at the end - the feeling lingers, and applause is delayed whilst the beauty is absorbed.

This was music of the second kind.

Beautifully composed and played. Thank you.

That was really lovely, Mau! It's wonderful hearing your new guitar! Sounds terrific! And the composition is very sweet!

Hey Mao,

So glad you're enjoying your Martin dread, not really what I would call a fingerstyle player's first choice, but you make it sound wonderful with your music.

Lovely piece, draws you in and makes you listen, well done.............

Almost every time I hear something new from you, I think "that's my new Mau favorite." Here we go again...

The guitar sounds wonderful. Thanks for sharing.

Nice. For the "big sound," there is no substitute for a dread, IMO.

Great one Mau! Your pauses and phrases are just magnificent.....I love how there's no rush.....the essence is always preserved......always feel like there's a nice tension as my ears wait for the pause to cease and the music to commence....and then it does on its own time. It's super effective and wonderfully sets the mood for this piece and many others you've offered.
Congrats on bringing us something so lovely and serene.
Oh, yeah.....the D-28.......it's got the goods!!

Thank you so much for your thoughtful post. I really appreciate your encouragement.

I've been on a streak of introspective pieces. I'll change pace on the next one.

Thank you for listening as always, Glenn.

The D-28 has been very inspirational. I thought I'd receive my dreadnought, play a few notes and put it away -- but I'm pleasantly surprised.

Thank you, Rich.

I've played several Martin Ds that weren't a good fit for my style -- but this one is different. Some may like it, others may think it's not dry enough or it's too thick in the middle.

I would love for you to play it some day.

Thanks, Jeremy.

I often think that my latest piece is my bestest but that feeling never lasts very long...

I would've been happy with a "good" guitar. I think this particular D-28 is exceptional. I feel very fortunate.

Thank you for listening.

The warmer EQ of a dreadnought is unique indeed. I'm hooked!

Thanks so much, Eric.

I'm so happy with the guitar that I've already started browsing again... Sigh... GAS never stops...
