Hi Joe,

Glad you like that L-5. I have also always used flat wound strings on my jazz guitar. (I have a Guild X160.) I prefer the darker color of the flatwounds.

Congratulations!
Glenn

Me too! Would love to see some pics...

But I will just say congratulations - anyway.

Pictures or it didn't happen!

Is this a 16" L5 or 17". I'm guessing it's a 16" L5 with no cutaway, like the one Maybell Carter played.

I'd really love an L5, particularly a non-cut 17" model with floating Dearmond pickup. Yum Yum!! I got to play several one time and the non-cut model from the late 40's was the cat's meow.

I'm not a big fan of the CES models, as they have holes cut into the top for the pickups. This configuration dampens the acoustic tone a bit. I prefer the fully-acoustic version L5 or L5C.

Hi Joe - I was one of those skeptics.... now I almost wish I hadn't seen it :-( One look, and all I could say was "oh man!". That is a real beauty! Wow - very sweet looking. Was it a custom order?

Of course now we're all going to want soundclips, see the can of worms you opened,
gorgeous looking axe BTW, nothing like a non-cutaway archtop

Thank you. My repertoire on the archtop is rather limited for now but I'll be working on it!

Thanks for your feedback.

I got my guitar from Dave's Guitar Shop. I had been looking for an L5 for ages and when I saw a fine example from a reputable dealer at a very good price, I jumped on it.

Thank you. I'll post something up when I can play something decent!

Cheers,

Joe

Joe -

I have seen many fine looking guitars in my time. I can honestly say that your L-5 has a truly iconic look about it. Congrats, go start playing some "standards", and enjoy it!

That is downright sexy. My first real guitar was the Kalamazoo version of that. Over 30 years old back when I got it.
