1965 Epiphone FT-79 Texan $2100 shipped **Price Drop**
Just bought this a few months ago and hate to let it go, but I've finally accepted that I'll never be comfortable with a nut smaller than 1-11/16ths.
1965 Texan with a 1-5/8ths inch nut width. The nut was recently replaced with a new bone nut with the spacing slightly widened to give the maximum width for the neck. Also has new bone bridge pins, both original nut and bridge pins are included. Rosewood bridge with an adjustable saddle, this one being ceramic. The neck is similar to all Gibson made guitars of the 60s, narrow and fairly thin. The 1-5/8ths inch nut width is the more desirable, with many Texans having a 1-9/16ths inch nut. The guitar is in good overall shape with the normal finish checking. In addition, there are a lot of scratches to the finish on the back, likely from a belt buckle. There was also an improperly placed jack hole on the back of the guitar near the end block. The previous owner had that hole patched and repaired--by Gryphon Strings who also replaced the nut--and is now barely visible. The guitar sounds amazing and is very comfortable to play. Comes in a new hard case. Last edited by mbilly; 05-28-2017 at 04:00 PM. |

Sure wish this beauty was as close as Palo Alto once again for if it was I'd be there with cash in hand and likely, after a good playing/ sampling session ,it be coming home.
Good luck on your sale |

Waaay cleaner than my '65 and at an incredible price. These are a king of understated singer/songwriter guitars, IMHO.
Good luck with your sale, especially with those players who like to "choke-up" with a capo and bypass the issue of being possibly too narrow at concert pitch. |

Thanks, I totally agree on all fronts. They're great guitars and it's a steal of a price. That's a great point about using a capo on them; they're very comfortable necks in general, it's just the narrow nut. Glad to hear from a fellow fan of the Texans!
