Smaller body guitars with 1 11/16 nut width
I'm wondering if there's anybody out there who might be building such a critter without it being a custom order.
Martin's straight-braced 000 guitars had that nut width until this year, I think, but I'd like to find some other options. By smaller body, I mean OM or smaller. Thanks!! |

The Taylor GS Mini is 1 11/16. I was very impressed with the sound and feel of that little guy. I would have bought the ES 2 version, but for my Gibson LG-1 3/4 Arlo Guthrie, that has a pickup already.

Eastman E20OOss is fantastic. All solid woods and a neck that plays like butter.

Not sure of your budget but, a Collings 0 does come standard with a 11/16" nut. Great guitars with a fabulous voice.

You could also make a replacement nut with the string spacing you desire as long as it is less than the original. Cheap, and not hard to do. The width of the fretboard is far less noticeable than the string spacing.
I did this for my wife's classical's as she has small hands, and she loves the results. Keep the original nut, and you also are good for re-sale should that occur. |

You didn't mention saddle string spacing, or what style playing you preferred. I'm hoping someone responds with one that has 1 11/16 and 2 1/4. That one, I've not seen outside the custom arena. I know the Blue Ridge mentioned has 2 1/8 at the saddle.

LOL... we are great helping you spend your money. Sorry about your wallet. If you like Martin's, life is too short to not play one all the time. I also like the 000-16GT and the 000-15 is intriguing too.

Thanks, everyone, for all the food for thought so far.
Martin has fairly recently started putting the same neck profile/nut width on most of their new guitars regardless of body size. Some love it or have adjusted well enough. Not me. I hate it. I'm not overly brand-loyal. If it doesn't hurt my right shoulder (smaller body), sounds great and feels good in my left hand (1 11/16 especially w/mod v profile), I might buy it. The Collings 0 size is a little pricey, but, very tempting. It could happen, but, I'll gather a little more info first. Thanks again, everybody!! Keep it comin'. |

15 and 16 series Martins are still 1 11/16 at the nut.

Scalloped bracing on the solid top Yamaha FS800 gives a soft yet articulate feel to plucked notes although not with all solid wood rich overtones. 1 11/16 nut with 2” bridge spacing makes it an intricate finger picking couch guitar with nice fat neck profile like some Recording Kings. Roughly OM/ 000 size with 25” scale at a budget price.

So is the Road Series. I keep eyeballing the 000RS1.
