Hey Chris,

This is Mike and I met you at RKPC that one weekend with Steve and Hwan...sounds like you have a nasty guitar. Hope you let me play it one day when I come down to Richmond again...all our friends say that my style would absolutely love your guitar. well, congrats on a guitar for life.

I am liking this cocobolo more than the other cocobolo one. simply because of the small things such as the matching coco bridge pins. but the most striking feature of this guitar is the cocobolo neck. there is this one dark line that goes all the way up and it is visually striking. Chris, you know what I'm talking about! also, the straight grain is beautiful!

9 months ago, my good friend Chris was able to pick this beautiful guitar up.

I haven't played it since then and last night I was able to play it for a few hours. I just wanted to comment on how impressed I am with Kevin's work. I commissioned my Creation Omega in 2001 and have loved all of Kevin's work since. The wonderful thing about small shop luthiers is they always strive to make their next guitar better! so the more they make it seems the better they become! and this Cocobolo OM is simply amazing!

I love the cocobolo neck. its a little heavier, but it just makes it more fun to strum harder! The Carpathian Top has opened up so much from the first time I played it. I can't wait to hear this thing again in a year or 2 down. I'm positive that the tone will simply get better and better. Right now, the tone is spectacular. I love this guitar so much I was contemplating a trade for it. but it is definitely one of the best OMs I've played. Its small body, short scale, wonderful woods, great builder, great tone, what else can you ask for!

As the proud owner of one of Kevin's guitars, I also wish to chime in with comment on the versatility of my MJ. I found the German Spruce top to be a nice mix of the "Euro-look, creamy" hue, but headroom similar to Adi. It took a bit to "open up," and responds well to a bit of a warm-up.

Construction, attention to detail, fit, finish (Kevin's newer UV cured poly-one of the very first guitars he let out of his shop with it!), and simple wooden rosette-well, superb. IMO, Omegas belong "up there" with the lusted-after luthier guitars, be they Ryans or Olsons or whomever. Was it not for Kevin's horrid bout with rotator cuff surgery and inevitable rehab period, his work would've been more prolific. You simply cannot find, except a mostly sunny day with 50% humidity and cumulus clouds "used" or "previously owned" Omegas at the premier guitar re-sale sites like Different City or Dream Guitars.

Should I drop dead (hopefully not) and one of my 2 sons (or spouse) wish to put this on the market, I expect it will fetch a fair sum! But I bought it for the pure sound, and musical heights this will summit to.

Beautiful guitar! What does a cocobolo neck do to the sound transfer?

Congratulations, beautiful guitar!

Never even seen an Omega in person but hear nothing but great things about them, stunning guitar!

I've had Carpathian over Madagascar on one of my Martins, I agree, the headroom of Adi but less sterile, more complexity and warmth.

Eric,

Congrats! Some might call this 'hoarding", as these dudes are pretty rare! Lovely guitar, particularly with the beautiful inlay and neat Coco neck. Might be fun to start another OMEGA thread so that we can post current pics of Kevin's work. Some diehard fans here - that's for sure!

Enjoy your latest one - and the new one when it arrives!
