SOLD PENDING: Taylor Baritone GT-8 (8 string)
SOLD Pending payment. Hi all, I am looking to trade my GT-8 purchased new (by me) from Guitar Rodeo in 2010. It has seen extremely light use, never gigged, kept in a smoke-free home and always cased and cared for. No marks, dings, nothing. I'd call its condition mint++. As much as I love the way it sounds, I have never gotten used to singing in the lower register so it gets way less use than it deserves. As a trade, I am looking for a Taylor T5z specifically. As a purchase, I am looking for enough to fund a T5z specifically!

Still want to get one of these one day... But no T5z and no extra money... Good luck with the sale, looks like a pretty copy!

I've been curious about these (esp. the double course being only on two strings). Good luck with the sale.

I'm surprised this guitar is still here for this price. It's an 816ce with two extra strings. If the extra strings aren't your cup of tea, take them off. The neck is the exact same width as a regular 816ce (1-3/4"). Plus, an 816ce (only 1/4" wider) is only slightly bigger than a 814ce. Honestly, I have an 814ce and a 516e and I can't tell the difference. If this thing were actually an 814ce at $1800 it would have been sold on day one because of all hype around the 814ce. It's almost the exact same thing with the bonus of using it as baritone-8 if you ever feel like it. If I'm reading the serial right, it was made on December 7th, 2009 so the expression system is pretty recent. If I had the cash, I'd buy this thing right now. Good luck to the seller. The person that gets this thing will get a sweet, _sweet_ guitar for an excellent price.

Agreed, Bearclaw -- it is definitely not "the same" as an 816. That being said, I totally agree with ference's statement that it is a sweet, sweet guitar. It has a beautiful tone. The 8 strings are so easy to get used to playing you don't even notice that the two extras are there. And -- they make a HUGE difference and add richness to the instrument you just don't get with a 6 string baritone. Make no mistake, this is a Taylor through and through. Even with the slightly longer scale, it is extraordinarily playable. So I also agree with ference's assertion that this is a darned good deal.
Once again, I'm only selling it because I have never been able to fully adjust my voice to the lower register. But I love the way this thing sounds. If I were a better player and able to get by with just instrumental pieces....I'd keep her around.
