PJ, one quick thought. The DS1 is not a "decent" strummer, it is a phenomenal strummer. However, the DS1 is very demanding... it has such clarity and focused projection that the slightest mistake is heard.

You have an instrument I dream of. I would suggest you keep it. Slow down, focus on absolute accuracy of chords, accurate cross picking and single notes, and spend a LOT of time (years) learning these skills. Invest the time and love in the DS1 and you will never look back.

Hi Billder - Thanks for the thoughts. You're right about the strumming, I'm really speaking about articulate Collings in general. I have 5 dread & jumbo size guitars (so too many), though this one really plays like a smaller guitar, with its Colings finesse, and sounds like a mean dread.

But I do know how to play a Collings, this is my second one (though I can for sure benefit from more practice as you suggest), but two jumbo Collings is overkill, so I'm going to diversify:-) Now, I said I know how, that doesn't equal playing it really well :-)

It's got your name all over it man!
